Arrival on Providenciales: Once through customs, take your luggage to the domestic departure area at  the opposite end of the airport building in Providenciales where someone from Global Airways will be waiting to assist you in travel to North Caicos.

Upon arrival at North Caicos airport, Mac from M&M Taxi (for a fee) will take you to Datai Villa on Whitby Beach. Remember to schedule your departure time with him! Mac will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the island. Ask Mac about different excursions or restaurants you may wish to visit on North Caicos. You will also find a list of things to do and places to go on North Caicos in the reference book that we leave for your convenience in the villa. 

Telephone: The phone number of Datai Villa is written on the inside of the telephone book, along with other important numbers. If you are calling a local number on North Caicos just dial the last five digits. To make a long distance call, dial 1-800-877-8000 and wait for an operator to assist you with a credit card call. Visa, MasterCard and American Express are accepted. For an AT&T (or various other calling cards), dial 1-800-877-8000.

Television and Stereo: Datai Villa has satellite TV, VCR, DVD and a stereo system, so you can bring along some good movies and music.

Water: Tap water is from rainwater caught on the roof. The water is purified and safe to drink from the kitchen tap. If you prefer bottled or mineral water it' s available at island grocery stores. Please bear in mind that you are visiting an island with a fragile environment. Water is a very precious commodity and we greatly appreciate your conservative usage. There is a dishwasher in the kitchen. (Lave vaisselle)

Electricity: As with water, it's important to conserve electricity on North Caicos. Please remember to turn off lights and fans when you are out on your excursions during the day.

Food and Beverage: There will be some typical staples in the cupboard and refrigerator when you arrive. Please help yourself to anything you wish. Upon your departure, leave whatever you wish. Please remember that food left on the counters and in open boxes will attract ants. If in doubt, keep the food in the refrigerator.

Getting Around: While taxis are widely available on North Caicos, there are also rental cars available. You will find the numbers for car and motorcycle rental on the island in the telephone book. Remember to drive on the LEFT side of the road and watch out for those folks who forget. Also be careful, especially at night, as many locals walk or ride their bikes as a means of transportation. The island pace is slow so take your time and enjoy the scenery.

Cleaning: The villa will be cleaned before your arrival and after your stay. A housekeeping person is available for hire if you would like daily chores done during your stay.

Garbage: There is no garbage collection on North Caicos. Garbage should be deposited in the waste can. Trash pickup is arranged during your stay.

Critters: There are some wild cats and dogs on the island. While it may break your animal-loving heart, please DO NOT FEED THEM. No matter how heart wrenching the pleas, these animals should not be fed under any circumstances.

Datai Villa is regularly checked and sprayed for various small creatures that make the island their home. Occasionally, however, you may encounter some of these critters, best efforts not withstanding. Do not be alarmed, as they are harmless; and indeed, lizards help keep the bug population under control. Please remember to keep the screen doors closed and you'll probably never have one visiting you. Occasionally after a heavy rain or if the trade winds die down (not very often), you'll get a few mosquitoes or sand flies. Make sure you bring some insect repellent.

Sun: The Caribbean sun can be pretty treacherous; please be sure to use some sun block. It is available at the local store. We want to make sure your visit will be a relaxing and comfortable one.

Baby crib: A crib is available. Also, for those couples who need some get-away time, baby-sitting services can be arranged in advance.

Safe: There is a safe for your valuables. (coffret de sécurité)

Checking Out: You will arrange your pick-up with MAC, who will handle your flight booking with Global Airways from North Caicos to Providenciales. If you are flying on American Airlines out of Providenciales, they accept check-ins as early as 9:00 a.m. We suggest leaving the villa at 8:00 a.m. and once to Providenciales Airport, check-in and obtain your boarding pass. You are then free to do whatever you wish (lunch, shop, return your rental car) until your departure time (4:00PM). You may prefer to enjoy our beautiful beach until the very last minute... so arrange a booking on the 1:00 PM flight and relax, you will have enough time to reach Providenciales Airport. Because you are flying out on an international flight, American Airlines recommends being at the airport approximately 1 1/2 hours before your departure time. Proximity to North Caicos Airport: 10 - 15 minute drive to airport, 10-15 minute flight to Providenciales.

Deposit Policy: Once you have phoned, faxed or emailed in your reservation to us, you have a two week (10 business days) grace period to send in your deposit. If we do not receive your deposit within two weeks, your hold on the property will be subject to cancellation without further notice.

To confirm and guarantee your reservation, the initial deposit required is one-half the rent. The balance of rent and damage deposit, if applicable, is due at least 60 days prior to your arrival. Your deposit will be applied toward the total rent.

We accept wire transfers only. Please let us know if you require a special payment plan, we will do our very best to accommodate your special needs. 

Cancellations will be honored if made outside of the 60 days prior to your arrival, less a 10% administration fee. Cancellations made within 60 days of your arrival may be subject to forfeiture of 100% of your total rent, unless we are able to rebook your rental dates. Naturally, we'll always do our best to fill the dates which must be canceled for whatever reason, so that a partial refund can be made to you without loss to the owner. Refund arrangements depend largely on the amount of notice given and the time of the year. The owners will be happy to reschedule your rental to another time within 12 months of your original booking date. There will be a nominal charge of $50 for rescheduling for administrative expenses incurred. As with any major international vacation, we highly recommend cancellation insurance available through most travel agents or AAA organizations. No refunds will be given for early departure.

Damage Deposit: Generally a damage deposit will be required from visitors bringing pets or large groups. The deposit is negotiable to fit your specific situation. The deposit is fully refundable to you within 30 days of your departure, provided there is no breakage, damage, missing items, or long-distance calls charged to the house phone. All normal utilities (except long distance or fax calls) are included in your rental price. Water is a scarce commodity on this island, please watch your usage. If you notice leaks, please notify the property manager quickly.
